Any time women come together with a collective intention, it’s a powerful thing. Whether it’s sitting down making a quilt, in a kitchen preparing a meal, in a club reading the same book, or around the table playing cards, or planning a birthday party, when women come together with a collective intention, magic happens. — Phylicia Rashad
Our mission is to be a social and community service organization whose purpose is to enrich our community.
The PWC has grown from a group of 15 to a group of 144. We anticipate more growth in the future as the Palisades and the Palisades Country Club are experiencing continued growth. Kerry Comstock and Glenda Reneau, founded the PWC in 2008. Sharon McGrann, Mary Ann Capuano, Jennifer Wickman and Sandie Amersbach became the first board members in 2008. The ground work laying the foundation of this Club was begun in 2006. Kerry and Glenda logged many hours working with the owners of The Palisades Country Club, the Blythe brothers. They eventually convinced them of the value of a Palisades Women’s Club within our Community and secured use of the Club for our meetings minus a large rental fee. We are forever grateful to Kerry and Glenda for their commitment to the founding of this Club and for the long, concentrated hours working with the Blythes to bring this organization to life. They began with 15 members and today we are well over 140! The day we reached 25 members was a “bell ringer” and Bonnie Stonum was ringing the bell, literally! Our retired Presidents and their Boards have worked tirelessly to create a Club which is a dynamic force within the Community. Our goal is to provide a venue where members meet their neighbors and expand their social circles in a casual, relaxed atmosphere. Service to our community at large is equal to our social goals. Over the years, we have supported many local charities and we will continue to do so through a variety of local, organizations. We, also, welcome any suggestions from membership for other charities to support on a one-time basis or on a continuing basis. In order to facilitate our goal of building a strong community, we now have a variety of auxiliary groups whose purpose is to bring women with shared interest together; creating the “glue” which binds our community. The Board has made some structural changes in order to accommodate this growth pattern. We are in the process of updating our website to create a more useful and attractive site. Many thanks to our member, Annie Kruk, for creating a vastly improved website for the PWC.Also, we have created two new non-Board positions: Media Director and Reporter. Neither of these positions have term limits in contrast to the Executive Board.Operation of the website needs constant attention and someone who can “stay with it” for a lengthy period. The reporter will gather information from the various Chairman and the Auxiliary Organizers, write a paragraph about their activities and plans and forward to the Media Director and the Corresponding Secretary. We welcome all questions regarding our organization, our successes and our shortcomings. Together we will build a strong organization which supports, nourishes and strengthens our community.
