Couples Potluck Dinner

Some of Couples Potluck group

The Potluck Group was created by PWC members as a means of having regular social gatherings centered around communal food. The group has decided to meet six times per year and spouses/partners are welcome. These gatherings provide members with a fantastic opportunity to get to know their neighbors, make new friends, and enjoy some truly delicious food in a more intimate setting in the hosts home. The members take turns hosting the potlucks. This group currently has 31 members.

On March 9th, the PWC Potluck Group had their inaugural gathering. It was hosted by the Lowry’s at their home in Eagle’s Landing. Each member was asked to bring a dish to share and their favorite beverage. Everyone was allowed to bring whatever dish they wanted, and the result was a flavorful combination of appetizers, entrees, side dishes and desserts. The offerings of the evening included shrimp dishes, pastas, salads, some unforgettable chili and many truly tempting desserts. 17 couples attended.

The potluck just happened to coincide with the Duke/UNC basketball game, so many took the opportunity to enjoy the game (and the friendly rivalry) while supporting their favorite team. Others chose to socialize in a seperate living area. It was an unforgettable night and according to Connie Lowry, the organizer, “the food was great, but the best part of the night was getting to engage in conversation and meet new friends.”

There are many great options for potluck recipes, so relax when it comes to bringing a dish to share. Check out
