On April 6, 2019, the Social Committee hosted “A Night with the Knights.” For anyone new to the area, the Knights are Charlotte’s AAA Baseball team, affiliated with the Chicago White Sox.

Saturday was a beautiful day for baseball and kicked off the opening weekend for the 2019-2020 season. The evening began with a tailgate party across the street from the BB&T Ballpark in Uptown. Though the accommodations were modest, the parking lot offered fantastic ballpark and city views and a lot of fun! Nicole Sodrick served as the grill master for the event, barbequing sliders and of course, hot dogs, a staple of America’s pastime. The pre-game festivities gave members and their spouses an opportunity to hang out, play games, and enjoy a cold beverage before heading to the main attraction, a match-up with North Carolina rivals, the Durham Bulls.

BB&T Ballpark has been the home of the Charlotte Knights since 2014. It is a beautiful ballpark and doesn’t seem to boast a bad seat. Charlotteans proved that baseball is truly a social event, as the upper deck was an entertaining cocktail party with an unforgettable view of the skyline.

While it is a great date/girls night, the Ballpark also offers a family experience with a large lawn for kids to run, a kid-friendly area with games, and a meet and greet with Homer the Dragon.

Though the Knights ultimately lost to the Bulls 6-2, it was still a great time and a fun way to spend an evening with friends. This outing was the last offsite social event for the season; however, there is still more fun to be had!

The Social Committee will be hosting the last General Meeting of the year on May 1st with a PWC Garden Party and our End of the Year Clambake on May 10th. Hope to see you all there!
